Sweet Caitlyn

Hi everyone!  This is Melody from A Splash Here and There blog hanging out with you today.   Thanks Sheila for letting me share my projects with your readers once a month.  This is a step card for one of my son's classmates who recently celebrated her 10th birthday.

Here's a sideview of the finished card.

This card turned out to be just a tad bigger than an A2 size card. The card was designed using the Silhouette Studio and all cuts were done using the Cameo.  This is the first time I've ever made a step card of this kind.  There are a lot of tutorials out there on how to create your base, but for lazy people like me ;) I used the base created by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #39775) - it had all the necessary layers pre-sized and pre-scored for your needs.  The girl hugging a teddy bear image is a print and cut image by Nichole Calmes (Design ID #39707).  After sizing the image inside the topmost layer of the card (shown in white), I set the image to print only then copied the same image and set it to print and cut as I knew I wanted a layered look.  I created the sentiment "Sweet Caitlyn" using the Creampuff font, flood-filled it with pink and set it to print only, inside the topmost card layer next to the image.  Below is a screen shot of what I'm talking about.

And here's how the topmost layer looks like after printing (yep, you can use a Cricut mat in the Cameo).

And here is how they look like after cutting.

I used foam mounts to layer the images together.

I wanted to personalize the inside of the card so I typed "Happy 10th birthday" (Abbeyline font) and positioned the sentiment on the inside base of the card.  This is how it looks like after printing.

And this is how it looks like on the inside after assembly.

I decorated the outside with some premade flowers from Michaels and a butterfly washi tape by Recollections.

The envelope is an image by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #29070).  I just glued a premade butterfly (from Michaels) to decorate the outside.

Hope you liked my project for today.  Thanks for visiting!

Your card is lovely. The Cameo is amazing and it's getting harder and harder resisting the urge to buy one.
